The Season for Marijuana
cultivation is fast upon us.Your help is
needed in solving this Crime Stoppers Crime
of the Month.
With the fall fast approaching, Marijuana
plants may soon be popping up throughout
Aroostook County. For this reason Crime
Stoppers is looking to the public for any
leads on where the plants may be.
We are encouraging people who may be out and
about walking, fishing, hunting whatever
reason...We are encouraging them to contact
Crime Stoppers. The plant can be found
nearly anywhere in Aroostook county and is
very rarely found growing by itself.
Obviously because this is illegal it is
often grown in remote areas that are not
often accessed by the public, Unlike years
past, it is not often grown in fields. You
might see half a dozen plants here or half a
dozen plants there. Any amount that you see
is worth making a call to Crime Stoppers.
There may be more plants in the area that
you don't see.
During the next few months that the Plant is
at peak harvest, The Maine Drug Enforcement
Agency is teaming up with Crime Stoppers and
other local agencies to gather up the plots
that have been found and destroy them. If
you are out in the woods, Maine Drug
Enforcement has a few tips on what to look
for.
The ground beneath will be cultivated often
times there is potting soil mixed in with
the native soil. There may be things mixed
in such as watering buckets or hoses and in
some cases it is being grown in 5 gallon
pales, you will also see paths or signs of
human activity around them
If you have any information on this crime or
any other crime, call the Aroostook County
Crime Stoppers at 1-800-638-8477 that's
1-800-638-TIPS. You do not have to give your
name. Crime Stoppers will also pay for
information on any other felony crimes
